to stay up until half four in the morning, when you're already tired, to watch Adam at the AMAs. You end up slightly hysterical and sending odd pm's to moorspede along the lines of 'ahhhh I'm to emotionally invested which way is up who am I did that just happen'. And the going even further off the rails by deciding that as you have a meeting at 9.45am, it would be better to power through staying up all night then getting only a few hours sleep. *facepalm*

My thoughts are the performance are still all over the place. Maybe I'll be more coherent after sleep?

The bad - Adam can sing like no one else I've heard in a long long time. You would not know that from this performance :( But you know what makes him all the more awesome, he owned that on twitter.

The good - The performance. Adam still sounded okay and he is one balls-of-steel fierce mofo. Stage show was EPIC! AND GLORIOUS. AND THE MOST PERFECT ROCK'N'ROLL MOMENT of an otherwise bland and dreary show [with the exception of Gaga who is growing on me].

The genius - Love him or hate him, who is anyone talking about? And I think that's just how he likes it. And how he's using it to make smart points about gender, performance and equality. Here's your politics OUT magazine!

The hideous - Here's what I really find offensive. People are complaining about their kids seeing Adam's gay sexcapades rather then Eminem rapping about how many rapes he's got under his belt. REALLY PEOPLE?

The pretty - he brought it <3

In conclusion: I love this man!

I saw the women talking about the controversy on The View (which is not a rec for the show btw, I have a lot of problems with it). They were actually quite ok, one made the point that he was on at 11pm, an adult viewing time. Another said that the kids would have been staying up for him and would have known what to expect.

Yes, that's the one! I saw Michael Moore on The View a few weeks ago, so much fail. One thing that really shocked me was how little these women (who have so much influence) knew about socialism. I'm not exaggerating, I was honestly shocked. One funny part was when he started talking about the huge tax breaks that those earning over 100,000 a week get, and the poorer tax payers pay for them. You should have seen the reaction! Of course, each of them earn much more than that. The whole thing was such a train wreck.

That's the thing I don't get about the view. Why are they influential? I mean, are any of these women political specialists? academics? etc? I always just thought that they shoved a bunch of random women with different views/leanings together and said 'go shout at each other, people will watch'. Hahaha. Barbara Walters is probably the most qualified, she's a co- producer. She's one of those "go soft on the subject" interviewers. I remember her asking this question of someone several years ago. "If you were a tree what tree would you be?" She's been accused of deliberately manipulating ratings by shedding tears.

I pretty much love Whoopi Goldberg in any other context, I think she has enormous talent but... Her role on the show is moderator. I'm pretty sure mainstream America would see her as a liberal.

The others are the younger, Christian, right wing, ex Surviver contestant (Elizabeth Hasslebeck) and Joy Behar, another comedian.

I would have been interested to see the show when Rosie O'Donnell was on it, she loudly condemned Bush, and argued with Hasslebeck, and was sacked.

I've never been a great fan of Michael Moore, I like his sense of humour and some of the stunts he pulls are very funny. To my mind he tends to really oversimplify but then I look at who he pitches to... Have you noticed he never says the socialist word? It's so weird that he has to pussyfoot around it. I am being too hard on him.

More Sleazak will be good! Oh, ellen is a gigantic dork. She's got a way of doing light, enjoyably fluffy interviews that leave everybody feeling good. We've been getting flashes of her when there isn't a golf or cricket game. So, I may see it.

It's sounding more and more like something I'm pleased I don't see. It seems like Hasslebeck has nowhere near the reason to be involved as the others. Does being a survivor contestant make your opinions interesting? At least the others have genuine careers aside from this.

There are clips floating around on youtube of Rosie O'Donnell defending Adam's AMA show and talking about how great she thinks he is. Are those the reasons she was fired? I thought everyone hated bush? And wasn't it her job to argue with the conservative viewpoint?

I don't really have a problem with Moore [although I'm not a huge fan]. I think his films are aimed at middle America and so can only go so deep because he has to simplify issues and keep it entertaining to get people to watch. I guess his effect is just raising awareness of things and then letting others have the big discussions. But I can understand you expecting more from someone considered 'political'.

Then YAY I'm gonna be excited for that. Adam can be really funny so I hope she encourages that side of him. I want them to be all giggly with each other! You're lucky. Remember after Sept 11 how you could not hear *anyone* opposing the invasion on tv? I remember watching MacNeil Lehrer *years* after the invasion of Iraq and not hearing anyone oppose it. I don't know when she started opposing him.

That's true. I remember it only really being The Daily Show that questioned the politics and it was a sad time for the news when a comedy show was being less 'toe-the-line-talking-points' then them. There's some really interesting stuff about the Iraq news coverage in that 'Flat News Earth' book I read, talking about how stories like the ones about torture where ignored or buried by papers for a long time until there was deemed to be enough anti-war sentiment that it would help sales/not hurt advertising to print it.

Not an Adam Lambert fan one way or another, but the guy sure is ballsie (is that even a word?). Sure knows how to work the stage and own it! Awesome range of vocals. Will be an interesting artist to watch grow in his talent and perhaps I'll even give him more of a listen.

Oh man. He really does have an amazing voice. I am so surprised that I like someone from American Idol, I mean I never watch shows like that, but his talent was enough to change my taste...if that makes sense.

Oh YAY to giving him more of a listen. His album is really good. Lots of different musical genres so there's something for everyone :) If you just want to hear him just really sing though, he did a small cabaret new year show at the end of 2008 that is amazing - How Come You Don't Call Me anymore (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0Oq_7jYUvo), Come Home (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq7OVHBc8ZA) are my personal faves!

I'm so going to buy his album. I've been listening to For Your Entertainment the whole evening again. ^_^ He's so adorable (heheh, I kind of love the fact that his stage face can be so different from his usual face).

Anyway, the performance wasn't very good if you think about singing. It's the first time I've heard him sing off tune. But it was entertaining as hell and he was just so intense. ^_^ Got to love the boy.

I cannot believe how stupid some people can be. Youtube is full of idiots commenting his videos. Fortunately there are lots of good and wonderful people too.

He IS adorable. I completely agree. Stage face is all intense and non stage face is so smiley and cute.

It was definitely the worst vocals I've ever heard from him, but the entertainment was x 1000000000. And I think it's going to turn into an all publicity is good publicity thing for him because he's too awesome for that not to happen :D
