Hey all. How's it going?

I'm having a nice relaxing weekend, finally watching Prison Break. It's all much more exciting and enjoyable that I thought it would be...and I think I may be getting a small crush on Wentworth. Doh! I think I need to read lots of Wentworth/Jensen fic now, because that would be just awesome. Anyone know of any? Or feel like writing any (hint, hint)?

And how good has the last month or so been for awesome J2 fics? I feel positively spoiled. So I thought I'd rec all the great new stuff along with a few stories that I've recently (and thankfully) be pointed to and older fics I loved but had accidentally left out. As per usual, I'll add these to the main lists.

Two really hot stories that manage to hit emotional points as well. In the first a toppy Jeff shows an insecure Jensen just how beautiful he is and in the second Jensen takes the lead.

Break Down by fadedink
Who can resist a story where Chris gets out of bed with David Boreanaz to go rescue Jensen. No one, that’s who. This is rough and dirty in all the best ways and the dialogue simply sparkles. “Christian laughs, and it's dark and dirty, humming through Jensen like a bolt of electricity. "Boy," he murmurs, still laughing, eyes even darker now, "you ain't got what it takes to make me your bitch."”  Also Chris/Dave.

Pretty Gay, A Love Story by phaballa
Yay. Genderswap! Jensen gets turns into a girl and finally snags the boy he’s been lusting after, one Christian Kane. But things don’t always work out as planned in this funny and highly entertaining story. “Eric sighs and rubs the back of his neck and avoids looking at Jensen, who really maybe needs to learn how to sit like a lady, or really not, because all sprawled out like that, Jared can see right up his skirt. Jensen's wearing pink underwear. Jared clears his throat and tries to look away, really he does, but he thinks guy Jensen would totally understand, so he doesn't feel so bad. Jensen once admitted to Jared while extremely drunk how much he likes it when girls' underthings match, so. Jared would bet a hundred bucks right now that Jensen's wearing some sort of frilly pink bra, and. Yeah.”


Illness & Injury

'C'hange or "How the Guitar Hero Gets His Bitch" by tru_faith_lost (cancer)
Written for spn_holidays
*NOT a deathfic* Jensen gets cancer and Jared takes care of him. The language really flows in this fic and the fluctuating emotions are so perfectly pitched - angst, joy, hope, and frustration. We get to see Jared go through all these whilst being all protective over Jensen and then, in return, he gets the best kind of happy ending he could hope for in that situation. “The change, when it comes, isn’t unexpected. Every great song has a change of key, a bridge that’s more memorable than the verse and more powerful than the chorus. Jared and Jensen’s song shouldn’t be any different, but it changes key just when they’ve finally got all the harmonies down and the balance just right.” 

No More Running by agt_spooky (cut)
Jared pulls away from Jensen after they start something and this leads to Jensen being injured during a stunt because both boys are pissed. This is the perfect match of angst and sweetness and throw in some hot boy sexing and you get one great story.

This Splintered Mast by marishna (broken arm)
Written for slashfest
Its not so much a fic about one of the boys being injured, it’s more like the injury is a catalyst to the events that unfold. Jensen injures his shoulder and Jared wants to look after him, but things aren’t so good between the boys as Jensen remembers how Jared hurt him.


AU

Behold and See by annella
Jared is a conductor and Jensen a soloist in this awesome romantic comedy. The boys are just the cutest things ever, with flaily Jared so completely into what he's doing that he just loses track of the world around him and panicky but trying his best daddy Jensen. Also a big yay to the supporting cast whom so nicely round out this totally enjoyable universe.

Can’t Point the Way To Your Heart by belyste

This story is such a delightful read, full of good humour and romance and possibly the cutest little kitten known to man all of which add up to a giant squeee experience as you read it. Jensen helps Jared seduce the woman of his dreams but gets a little more involved than he expects. “He follows Jensen around all day, trotting after him with his little tail held high, and he cuddles at any opportunity, even if Jensen’s just standing still for a second – he’ll dive at Jensen’s feet if they stop moving and try to crawl in his lap if Jensen so much as moves to sit. He purrs hard enough to shake his little frame if Jensen so much as lays a hand on him, and if he picks Oscar up, he’ll nuzzle right into a spot under Jensen’s chin, inside his shirt collar, and be perfectly content to curl up there as long as he can.”

Coming Of Age by b_s_n_m (friends only)
Mechanic Jared meets writer Jensen in this sweet yet sad fic. I like the fact that in this one Jared is the woobie and Jensen gets the chance to take care of him and help him deal with his homophobic dad.

Football’verse and ficlet Weight Training by bksncleverfic
What better setting for the boys than the world of American football? Now, I’ve never even seen the game but the author gives you enough information for this not to matter at all, it’s that cleverly written. Jared and Jensen have to learn to work together but something more than a professional relationship ensues once they get past all of Jensen’s insecurities and get down with Jared’s can do attitude. This is a really fantastic read and now comes with a bonus timestamp ficlet. Yay. I really can’t recommend this enough.

Jensen installs some computers for Jared. Then they have really hot sex.

How To Sell A Guy A House In Six Weeks by dijisun
A really fun AU story where Jared is a realtor trying to find the perfect home for fussy film director Jensen Ackles.

If At First You Don’t Succeed, Suck Seed by balefully

It’s so wonderfully refreshing to read a Jensen is a hooker fic that is all about loving orgasms as opposed to trauma and angst. But then everything about this is good, from the characterisations to the supporting cast to the dirty hot sex and the ambiguous ending. “After all, he is a whore. A slut, a tramp, a rent-boy, a male prostitute. He has sex with people—both men and women—for a living, and he likes it. And really? That's all that matters. It's not like he can't do anything else; he'd been an actor once, actually, and it really wasn't a hell of a lot different from being a "working girl," as his fellow bunnies call themselves. He'd also been a catalogue model, a ranch hand, and a retail drone, all of which were the most miserable occupations anyone could ever have. So in the end, as far as Jensen is concerned, having orgasms for money instead is definitely the best option.”

Haunting and mysterious new AU where Jared encounters a homeless Jensen. This is rich with detail and unusual characterisations that make it all so easy for the reader to picture. “Luck’s with him, and he knows the guy on the other side--one of them at least. Jeff Morgan. Tall, dark and scruffy in his green military jacket. He’s one of the few down here on the streets who’s not addicted or crazy. Okay, beyond some claustrophobia like Jared’s never seen before. People say he’s a vet, but nobody can agree on what war. Jared sees his battlefield though, putting himself between the poor and the weather and the cops and the gangs and the dealers and the pimps. Jared hits the button to let him in and sees that Jeff isn’t alone. He’s got some street guy with him, bloody-faced and dazed looking, cradling one arm. Jared thinks one of the sad things about street people is how they all look alike--lanky, unwashed hair, scraggly beards. This guy’s eyes are a bright green though, the whites not yellowed by liver damage and Jared thinks that’s hopeful.”

It’s Only a Job: Trash!verse and Beyond Trash!verse by emerald_angel9 (Beyond Trash!verse ongoing)
Highly entertaining and enjoyable story following the trials and tribulations faced by the two boys after they meet and fall in love during the times that Jared collects Jensen’s trash. The universe is nicely rounded out by the cast of supporting characters, including a jealous Steve, a scheming Sandy and an only semi-douchy Chad.

Spending the Holidays…In Handcuffs by fiesty_red (ongoing)
This has only recently started but already I’m intrigued and amazed and excited and about a thousand other things that this on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller is bringing out in me. At the minute, we only know what Jensen knows and that is that for some reason he has been kidnapped by a man called Jared. I can’t wait for there to be more.

This tale has a really natural feel to its progression. The boys move from the best of friends to something more over thanksgiving, yet it feels like it’s been years leading them up to the moment. Very sweet.

Adorably cute story that’s ostensibly about Jensen choosing new sheets but is really about the boys falling in love.

Common Knowledge by elucreh
Post-modern tale that’s as funny as it is smart and self-referential. Jared learns about fanfiction whilst appearing at a convention and then it kinda takes over his life. “It's interesting, too, to watch the fangirls when they don't know he's watching, like experiencing a new culture. He's making a list of words to figure out later: ”otipi,” and “pixpam,” and “capping,” and “arpeayes.” He's especially curious about the meaning of “elljay,”, because it seems to be some kind of sign-countersign ritual.”

This fic is seriously sweet and sexy. It’s also host to some great images like Jensen being whipped by Erica Durance during a one night stand, drunk Sandy making out with someone she shouln't be, Jensen dressed as Indianna Jones and so on. Jensen finds out that Jared isn’t in the type of relationship Jensen believed him to be in, which meant that things could happen between our two favourite boys.

One Million Strings by zortified
The boys get drunk and talk about what strings would be attached if they had sex. The boys are so adorkable in this cute and fun fic.

The Sinner In Me by nemo_88
This is beautifully written. An almost heart-breaking story of a Jensen torn between Jared and his faith.

Won’t Be the Last by badfalcon
Adorable story where Jared and Jensen meet the day before their Supernatural auditions thanks to their funny yet meddling friends. This features one of my favourite Jared meets Jensen lines ever. “"Jensen? Hi, I’m Jared. Riley seems to think we should be fucking." A broad grin broke out on Jared’s face when the man sitting on the couch in front of him looked up, one eyebrow quirked in amusement. "And now that I've met you? I think he might be right!" His grin only widened, dimples bracketing his full lips as Jensen’s eyes widened and he spat his beer out, pink blush covering his cheeks, making his freckles all the more prominent.”


Post Supernatural

The history of how the boys came together, told in flashbacks from some point in the future. All the characters in this are really well drawn, including the OC, and the emotions really drag you into the story. Also features Jared/Sandy.

L.A. Story by kestrelsan

Sometime after SPN ends Danneel dumps Jensen and then he gets a Jared shaped houseguest. This is a really great story all filled with the details of the boys lives and domesticity and a really well written emotional core that hits just right. I loved all the great moments between the boys and how they managed to communicate without saying anything, in that manly kind of way.

Lingering In the Golden Gleam by katjad
This is just wonderful and wins at everything. Set sometime in the future, Jared finds himself in an alternate reality where he stayed with Jensen after Supernatural ended and now they live in domestic bliss whilst raising a family. Despite how this may read like an AU, it’s not. “He's already halfway down the hallway before he realizes: he actually is in Vancouver. He's in his old house there, the one he bought when Supernatural got picked up for a third season. He must have taken something fucking crazy last night, because how the hell else he could have gotten to Vancouver in the middle of the night, woken up in bed with Jensen and a couple of kids and—gross, now it sounds like he's Michael Jackson—anyway, lots of drugs, crazy ones. Probably Welling and Rosenbaum were involved.”
