It’s so wonderfully refreshing to read a Jensen is a hooker fic that is all about loving orgasms as opposed to trauma and angst. But then everything about this is good, from the characterisations to the supporting cast to the dirty hot sex and the ambiguous ending. “After all, he is a whore. A slut, a tramp, a rent-boy, a male prostitute. He has sex with people—both men and women—for a living, and he likes it. And really? That's all that matters. It's not like he can't do anything else; he'd been an actor once, actually, and it really wasn't a hell of a lot different from being a "working girl," as his fellow bunnies call themselves. He'd also been a catalogue model, a ranch hand, and a retail drone, all of which were the most miserable occupations anyone could ever have. So in the end, as far as Jensen is concerned, having orgasms for money instead is definitely the best option.”

Excellent gaming AU for the inner geek. Jared’s a slutty games reviewer and Jensen is an earnest designer in over the course of 40K words they’ll meet, fall in love, suffer heartbreak, have sex and create a game called ‘Supernatural’ that I really want to play. This is richly plotted with great characterisations (the Danneel here is awesome). “The guy started a bit, an unbelievably sweet flush creeping up his cheeks as he turned, looking like he’d already forgotten Jared even existed. Jared couldn’t really figure out why that was cute, too. At least, not until the man reached up a hand and rubbed it nervously through his close-cropped hair. “I’m kinda…well, it’s just that I’m not really ready…this is my first time, so I’m not really sure…” He trailed off with a sudden self-deprecating laugh, hesitantly meeting Jared’s amusement. “Geez, TMI. You probably meant what floor, huh?””

Tall, dark and scruffy in his green military jacket. He’s one of the few down here on the streets who’s not addicted or crazy. Okay, beyond some claustrophobia like Jared’s never seen before. People say he’s a vet, but nobody can agree on what war. Jared sees his battlefield though, putting himself between the poor and the weather and the cops and the gangs and the dealers and the pimps. Jared hits the button to let him in and sees that Jeff isn’t alone. He’s got some street guy with him, bloody-faced and dazed looking, cradling one arm. Jared thinks one of the sad things about street people is how they all look alike--lanky, unwashed hair, scraggly beards. This guy’s eyes are a bright green though, the whites not yellowed by liver damage and Jared thinks that’s hopeful.”

Highly entertaining and enjoyable story following the trials and tribulations faced by the two boys after they meet and fall in love during the times that Jared collects Jensen’s trash. The universe is nicely rounded out by the cast of supporting characters, including a jealous Steve, a scheming Sandy and an only semi-douchy Chad.

One of my favourite stories. The universe the author created was so full and vibrant, the characters so well drawn and the dialogue so sharp and funny that I was truly sad when I reached the end and realised there was no more. Jared gets a summer job at a cinema and comes to know the rest of the staff that just happens to include one Jensen Ackles. “Welcome, worms, to Starlight Cinemas, your home away from home for the next three months. If you are here, that means one of three things. One, your mommy and daddy didn’t want you running under foot all summer and forced you to get a job. Two, we’re the only place who called you back when you sent out your undoubtedly impressive resume. Or three, you’re just a loser who won’t leave. It’s okay, we still accept you. You’re family here.”

Life Is Like A Song by tabbyshhh
This is a long read that’s engrossing right from the start. The story starts when Jensen is fostered by the Padalecki family and from there we get to watch how the relationship between him and middle son Jared grows and develops. What I really liked about the characterisation here is that we’ve got a Jensen who has most definitely been knocked around by life, but who is also strong and resilient rather than completely broken, and a Jared that really knows what he wants. Mama & Papa Padalecki are also particularly delightful. In fact, the whole piece is really lovely. “Jensen isn’t really what Jared expects. He’s tall, and really kind of skinny, with a girly face to go with his name. He speaks really, really quietly, so sometimes it’s hard to hear him, and he always calls Jared’s mom ma’am and his dad sir, even after they tell him not to. He also doesn’t eat much, which Jared finds kind of strange, but Jensen’s always happy to pass on his left over dessert to Jared. Jared thinks he likes Jensen the best out of the kids his parents have fostered so far.”

Jared joins Jensen’s band as a replacement for the MIA Chris Kane. This was such a lyrical read, full of perfect contradictions, like how we move from hearing so much of Jensen to not really hearing him at all and how amusing it is but so sad at the same time. “Jensen was starting to reconsider his Sylvia Plath stance. He hated the way Hayden was a fucking Marxist about music. One of the people, the unwashed masses, would show up and inspire them all to higher enlightenment. What the fuck ever, idiot had been watching too many Soviet films for inspiration.”

This is well done and features an adorably handsy drunk Jensen. College boy Jared has a thing for his friend Jensen, but Jensen is straight. Isn’t he?

Fantastic story where Jared falls instantly falls in love with deaf!Jensen. But, oh no, he’s with David Boreanaz. What’s a boy to do? Jared’s voice is so funny and wonderful in this. “Too pretty. Never trust the pretty. Pretty always ended badly. Helen of Troy. Perfect example. David and Jensen were going to result in the downfall of a country. Or LA, at the very least."

This is a really adorable and sweet remake of ‘The Truth About Cats And Dogs’ that’s a delight to read. You can’t help but fall in love with poor insecure Jared, so scared of rejection, that he sends the dumb but beautiful Tom Welling on a date with radio-phone-in-guest Jensen Ackles in his place. Loved it.

Even his little swipes at lovable new to the industry Jared are funny.  ““Hey,” Jensen replied, continuing on to where they were cleaning up the catering area. Coffee, coffee, coffee. Jared fell into step beside him, and Jensen imagined his brain was going candy, candy, candy. Dumb fucking child”. Despite all the bitching, both characters are just adorable and I want to take them home. Also, the dirty bits are really hot.

Jared goes out with evil twin Jesse. Then meets good twin Jensen. Yay. The descriptions of shy, sweet, dorky Jensen are just so lovely and matched so well with excited puppy Jared that you just can’t help but enjoy the ride.

This is a hurt/comfort fic to max. Successful sculptor Jared meets a pretty broken Jensen. Through a slow and beautifully drawn out reveal, their stories are told and their lives entangle. The characters, atmosphere and tone are all so vivid and work really well. “When the guy nodded toward Sadie the light hit his cheek, and Jared noticed the faint spider-web trace of scars over his left cheek-bone and temple, disappearing into his hairline. Jensen looked away immediately.”

This is a re-write of the authors SPN AU ‘Sky In the Box’. Whilst that fic was great, it somehow works even better as a J2 story. Set in a London university, rich boy student Jared meets architecture student Jensen and its kind of love at first sight, even if the boys do have to overcome lots of hurdles (including themselves) to get it together. Superbly written. “Really, really green eyes, Jared thinks, hands shoved deep in his pockets as he outstrips any passerby with his hurried gait and long legs. He thinks about the color and clarity of them, thinks about the man’s languid accent and lopsided smirk, and the image spins like a reel through his mind until he’s reached his criminology lecture and is weakly shrugging at his professor’s annoyed gaze as he slinks in through the back.”

Parting Gifts by frostian
A gripping thriller rounded out with a strongly drawn cast of secondary characters and great use of flashbacks. Jensen gets kidnapped and husband, Jared, must work with the rescue team. “Jensen saw the security guard swing his hand up and ducked. The sap missed his nose but smashed his forehead. Jensen heard a muffled noise as the weapon made contact but ignored the sound and the pain as his training kicked in. He threw his entire weight against the guard, propelling both of them into the middle of the hallway. He tried to yell for help when the man posing as the police officer sprayed his face. Whatever was in the container was both odorless and tasteless, but its effect on him was immediate.”

This is an epic tale that never falters in its storytelling. The plot is really well structured and keeps moving you forward on the journey with these interesting and likeable characters. It’s highly enjoyable and obviously surpasses the film ‘The Runaway Bride’ that it was based on. Featuring journalist Jared and groom-to-be Jensen.

He forgot to play the role of pissed off teammate and raced to his side, ripping off his own helmet as he reached out and touched the thin line of blood flowing down Jensen’s right cheekbone. When Murray dragged him away and let the trainers do their job, he’d come close to punching him. Instead, he checked the player who’d hit Jensen into the boards as soon as play started.”
