Oh man. I hate those moral majority panics that sweep countries from time to time. Why haven't we evolved past this yet? It seems so old.
That's true. I remember it only really being The Daily Show that questioned the politics and it was a sad time for the news when a comedy show was being less 'toe-the-line-talking-points' then them. There's some really interesting stuff about the Iraq news coverage in that 'Flat News Earth' book I read, talking about how stories like the ones about torture where ignored or buried by papers for a long time until there was deemed to be enough anti-war sentiment that it would help sales/not hurt advertising to print it.
